DAY 1
By train to Glasgow and our centrally located hotel. (D)
DAY 2
We travel by train to Balloch Pier for an idyllic cruise on beautiful Loch Lomond - relax and unwind into your holiday. We return by train to Glasgow to enjoy an afternoon sightseeing aboard open-top buses. Use your included Guide Friday ticket to tour the city; revel in the magnificent architecture and hop on and off as you wish. (B,D)
DAY 3
Free to enjoy more open-top bus sightseeing in this award winning European City of Culture; perhaps explore Glasgow’s many museums, The Burrell art collection, Mackintosh masterpieces or savour the city’s stylish shopping streets.
Late afternoon we make our way onboard historic paddle steamer ‘Waverley” and the thrill of cruising down the Clyde escorting Cunard’s flagship “Queen Victoria” as she sets sail. Relish the excitement of passengers waving as both ships’ sirens sound their farewells – it promises to be a magical moment. Our evening meal is taken aboard “Waverley”. (B,D)
DAY 4
After a leisurely breakfast we travel by train to Helensburgh to rejoin Waverley for an enchantingly beautiful cruise, via Dunoon and Rothesay, to the dramatic Isle of Arran, enjoying two hours ashore at Brodick. Our return cruise alights at Largs, and we continue to Glasgow by train. (B,D)
DAY 5
Taking the speedy shuttle train to Edinburgh we enjoy a morning tour of the stately Royal Yacht Britannia, followed by a leisurely afternoon cruise from South Queensferry to view a wonder of the world: the magnificent Forth Railway Bridge, and its more modern sister road bridge. (B,D)
DAY 6
We return to Edinburgh by train for a full day free for sightseeing; use your inclusive open-top bus tour ticket to hop and off wherever you wish. Visit the Palace of Holyroodhouse and Edinburgh Castle (admissions included); perhaps stroll world famous Princes Street. (B,D)
DAY 7
Bidding farewell to Glasgow we head over the borders to homeward destinations aboard our express train. (B)
