We take you over the spectacular Settle & Carlisle line in First Class seats aboard the Statesman heritage train hauled by a magnificent steam locomotive. Add to this the glorious “Railway Children” line, the traditional Yorkshire village of Haworth and historic Skipton where we cruise by canal boat from our hotel to the heart of the market town!

DAY 1

Travelling by train to Skipton situated at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales and the Herriots Hotel, a unique oasis that combines ambience, location and service for those looking for high standards. (D)

DAY 2

Travelling by train to nearby Keighley where we board our steam hauled train for a journey back in time as we travel along the famous ‘Railway Children’ line in its 40th anniversary year to Haworth - with ample time for sightseeing and visiting the famous Brontë Parsonage, the literary family’s former home. (B,D)

DAY 3

A day of complete leisure as we convey you by canal boat into Skipton town centre where you can enjoy shopping and browsing at the traditional market stalls and perhaps visit Skipton Castle at the head of the main street – one of the most complete and best preserved Medieval castles in England. (B,D)

DAY 4

The culmination of a wonderfully relaxing holiday as we take our First Cass seats to travel in luxurious style aboard the steam-hauled Statesman heritage train – the Fellsman* - on our journey of steam nostalgia along one of the most famous and spectacular railway routes in the world, the Settle & Carlisle. We alight at the historic city of Carlisle for a sightseeing break before returning aboard our scenic cruise train, back over this most dramatic rail route - voted one of the world’s greatest railway journeys. (B,D)

DAY 5

Bidding farewell to the lovely Herriots Hotel we board our trains for homeward destinations. (B) * In the unlikely event of the steam train being unavailable we reserve the right to substitute a diesel train or undertake the journey by road coach.
