Ironbridge Victorian Christmas

DAY 1

Journey from your home station to Telford and, on arrival, we will make our way to the Mercure Hotel, our base for the next three nights. We enjoy free time to explore our new surroundings before meeting for our first evening meal together.

DAY 2

After breakfast this morning, we travel by coach to Bridgnorth, situated on the River Severn and once one of the busiest river ports in Europe. We enjoy free time to stroll around the town and take a journey on the fantastic Bridgnorth Cliff Railway, the oldest and steepest inland funicular railway in England. Afterwards, we return via the UNESCO World Heritage Site Ironbridge Gorge, a magnificent monument and symbol of the Industrial Revolution. Later this afternoon, we visit the nearby Coalport China Museum to explore the original industrial workshops and kilns in which spectacular china creations were manufactured before returning to the hotel in time for our evening meal.

DAY 3

Today, we journey by road to Blists Hill, a recreated 1900 town and time capsule of a bygone age. Here we experience the wonder of a magical Victorian Christmas walking the streets under falling snow, warming up by the fireside in the cosy cottages, and watching as the townsfolk busily prepare for Christmas whilst we enjoy delicious food and soak up the festive atmosphere. Following our nostalgic visit, we transfer to Weston Park for their Christmas Market* where we can browse stalls offering festive crafts, gifts, and food. We can enter the historical house and explore the gardens and grounds before returning to our hotel where we enjoy our final evening meal together.

DAY 4

After breakfast, we bid farewell to Telford and make our way to the station for our homeward journeys.
