DAY 1

Journey from your home station to Llandrindod Wells and, on arrival, we will make our way to the Metropole Hotel, our base for the next four nights. We enjoy free time to explore our new surroundings before meeting for our first evening meal together.

DAY 2

Today, we step aboard the beautiful Heart of Wales Line, one of Britain's prettiest rural routes, travelling through tranquil scenery and crossing the curving Cynghordy Viaduct as we make our way to Llandeilo. Here we transfer to the Aberglasney Gardens, one of Wales' finest gardens set in the picturesque Tywi Valley, and we can explore more than 10 acres of magnificent gardens including the unique Elizabethan Cloister Garden before returning to Llandrindod in time for our evening meal.

DAY 3

After breakfast this morning, we travel by coach to the charming Talyllyn Steam Railway, the world's first preserved railway, running for seven miles through stunning Southern Snowdownia from Tywyn to Nant Gwernol through ancient woodlands and meadows. Afterwards, we continue to Aberystwyth where we enjoy free time to take lunch and explore the town before our steam* journey on the Vale of Rheidol Railway to Devil's Bridge. Travelling through the beautiful Rheidol Valley with the countryside changing as we journey through wide open fields, woodland, and rugged mountain scenery, the line twisting and turning as it clings to the hillside. After a day of heritage, we return to Llandrindod and enjoy our evening meal together.

DAY 4

This morning, we take our coach to Abergavenny where we have some free time to explore this historic market town before transferring to the grand Cyfarthfa Castle, a prime example of a 19th-century Ironmaster residence where we can also explore the Museum and Art Gallery. This afternoon, we continue to Pant for a return steam* journey on the Brecon Mountain Railway, formerly part of the Brecon & Merthyr Railway. Our journey will take us along the full length of the Pontsticill Reservoir before climbing to Torpantau, high in the Brecon Beacons, before we retrace our steps to the hotel in time for our final evening meal together.

DAY 5

After breakfast, we bid farewell to Llandrindod Wells and make our way to the station for our homeward journeys.

*Important Note: Whilst the arrangements for all described steam train travel are in place, we do reserve the right to make substitutions should it be deemed necessary for whatever reason.
