DAY 1
Travelling by Eurostar from London St Pancras to Paris, then onwards to Montreux and our hotel for three nights, the Eden Palace au Lac, where we check in and enjoy our first evening meal together.
DDAY 2
After breakfast this morning, we travel by rail and road to Corsier-sur-Vevey to visit the fantastic Chaplin's World, the only place dedicated to Charlie Chaplin, where we enjoy a unique and immersive adventure. This afternoon, we indulge in a wine-tasting at the Domaine Bovy Vineyard, located in the beautiful Lavaux region, before returning to Montreux for an evening at leisure.
BDAY 3
Today, we board our private coach to the cheese factory of Maison du Gruyère where we explore the dairy, learn the history of the factory, and discover the secrets of cheese making before enjoying our lunch in their restaurant. Afterwards, we have some time at leisure in the village of Gruyères where you can wander the cobblestoned streets or visit the remarkable Gruyères Castle. We continue to Maison Cailler to explore the history of chocolate, learning how Swiss chocolate is produced and, of course, we can indulge in a tasting before returning to Montreux.
B, LDAY 4
After breakfast, we journey by rail to Veytaux-Chillon for a guided tour of the medieval Chillon Castle, perched dramatically at the water's edge against a stunning mountain backdrop, complete with a wine-tasting. Afterwards, we continue to Bern and transfer to the Hotel Bären am Bundesplatz for our three-night stay.
BDAY 5
This morning, we embark on a guided tour of Bern, Switzerland's capital, and we stroll through the UNESCO Old Town, marvelling at the Zytglogge clock tower and the Cathedral of Bern, and taking time for lunch at a local restaurant. This afternoon, we enjoy a fascinating guided beer tour of this historic city before spending the rest of the day at leisure.
B, LDAY 6
Today, our private coach takes us to the Emmentaler Dairy where we experience a digital tour learning how master cheesemakers transform high-quality raw milk into the most famous cheese in the world. On return to Bern, we have some time at leisure before reconvening at a local restaurant for our final evening meal together.
B, DDAY 7
We bid farewell to Bern and to Switzerland, returning by rail to Paris, where we will join the Eurostar service to London St Pancras.
