DAY 1
Travelling by Eurostar from London St Pancras to Brussels, then onwards to Koblenz for our overnight stay at the Ibis Hotel where we check in and enjoy our first evening meal together.
DDAY 2
After breakfast this morning, we continue by rail along the scenic Rhine Valley route to Wels and, on arrival, we will make our way to the Hotel Bayrischer Hof for our six-night stay. We have some time to explore our new surroundings before our evening meal together.
B, DDAY 3
This morning, we explore the Stern & Hafferl railways and tramways including an exclusive vintage tram charter on the scenic Atterseebahn before travelling to the beautiful lakeside town of Gmunden. Here, we enjoy time for lunch before continuing through the countryside to Lambach, an historic market town and home of the famous Abbey of Lambach. We return by rail to the hotel in time for our evening meal together.
B, DDAY 4
Today, we journey by rail to the charming town of Zell am See for an exclusive steam-hauled charter train over the Pinzgaubahn through picturesque landscapes with views of the Pinzgau grass mountains to Mittersill. On our return to Zell am See, we enjoy free time to explore this lakeside town before retracing our steps to Wels for our evening meal together.
B, DDAY 5
After breakfast, we travel by rail to Timelkam where ride behind steam along the branch to the Ampflwang Locomotive Park for a full day at this remarkable event. Here, we will experience engines in action, a fantastic turntable parade, and the opportunity to explore the huge collection of over 100 historic rail vehicles including mighty locomotives, special vehicles, wagons, and more!
BDAY 6
This morning, we travel to St. Polten for a special steam-hauled journey over the narrow-gauge Mariazellerbahn, the longest narrow-gauge railway in Austria, climbing high into the mountains over viaducts and through tunnels to reach the pilgrimage town of Mariazell. On our return to St. Polten, we enjoy free time to explore and dine at leisure in a local restaurant before taking the evening train back to Wels.
BDAY 7
Today, we travel to the lovely riverside town of Steyr where we board a vintage postbus and drive to Grünburg for our exclusive steam-hauled charter over the 17km narrow-gauge Steyrtalbahn. We journey through scenic meadows and charming valleys, passing a historic pilgrimage church and traversing a magnificent arched bridge enjoying many photo opportunities along the way. Afterwards, we retrace our steps to Wels and enjoy our final evening meal together.
B, DDAY 8
We bid farewell to Wels and to Austria, returning by rail to Brussels, where we will join the Eurostar service to London St Pancras.
