DAY 1
Travelling by Eurostar from London St Pancras to Lille, then onwards to Offenburg and our hotel for five nights, the Ibis Styles Hotel, where we check in and enjoy our first evening at leisure.
DAY 2
After breakfast, we take the morning train to Karlsruhe where we board a steam hauled train for a 68km run to Bad Herrenalb and return. This afternoon, we discover Germany's oldest and most famous university town, the historic Heidelberg, renowned for its beautiful riverside setting, baroque Altstadt, and hilltop castle. After our exploration, we will ride along the scenic Neckar Valley Railway to Bad Friedrichshall before returning to Offenburg.
BDAY 3
Today, we explore some of the rural routes and delightful branch lines in the northern Black Forest area. Firstly, we journey via Biberach along the branch line to Oberharmersbach followed by the unelectrified Kinzig Valley line and continuing via the Murg Valley line to Rastatt. Afterwards, we journey along the branch to the beautiful mill village of Ottenhöfen with magnificent views of the side valleys, colourful flower meadows, and mystical forests before returning to Offenburg.
BDAY 4
Today, we enjoy a circular rail trip to Seebrugg before travelling to the lakeside town of Titisee with time for lunch in this charming spa town alongside the stunning glacial lake. This afternoon, we travel to Trossingen Stadt where we have an exclusive chartered vintage railcar journey plus a museum visit before returning to Offenburg via the dramatic tunnels line through Triberg.
BDAY 5
After breakfast this morning, we travel by rail to Constance enjoying free time to meander through this alley-woven town and taking time for lunch before riding the rural routes to Basel and onwards to Offenburg where we enjoy our final evening at leisure.
BDAY 6
We bid farewell to Offenburg and to Germany, returning by rail to Lille, where we will join the Eurostar service to London St Pancras.
