DAY 1
Travelling by Eurostar from London to Frankfurt. Overnight in Frankfurt. Where we check in and enjoy our first evening meal together.
DDAY 2
Continue our journey through Germany and over the Swiss Border to Zurich, here we take a regional train to Winterthur. In the afternoon, we have a tour of Winterthur with a special focus on industry and rail culture.
DAY 3
We walk to the train station and take the train through beautiful Thurgau and along the shore of Lake Constance to the charming little town of Arbon. We can spend some time exploring Arbon, which is known for its picturesque Old Town and the relaxing lakefront. Later we transfer to St. Gallen. After a stroll through the town, we reach the UNESCO World Heritage Abbey District. Depending on your interests, you can visit the historic library on your own or enjoy one of the many other sights St. Gallen has to offer, from the textile museum to the Open Art Museum to the viewpoint at the top of the Mühleggbahn.
BDAY 4
After breakfast, we take the scenic rail journey north towards the German border and enjoy a morning at leisure in stunning Schaffhausen on the banks of the Rhine, including a visit to the IWC watchmaking museum. After lunch at your own leisure, we take a walk along the banks of the Rhine to nearby Neuhausen from where we enjoy incredible views of Europe's largest waterfalls. On the panoramic path by the falls, we also get the possibility to visit Laufen Castle. We then return to Winterthur by train for time at leisure.
BDAY 5
By rail, we take the scenic rail and bus journeys to Brülisau before taking the cable car to Hoher Kasten, for sensational views over the Rhine valley and Appenzellerland. We take the cable car back down to Brülisau before making the short onward journey to historic Appenzell where we explore the Old Town and visit the Appenzeller Brewery for a beer tasting experience. This evening we enjoy our final evening meal together at the hotel.
B, DDAY 6
We bid farewell to Switzerland and travel back to London, via Frankfurt and Brussels.
