Grand Swiss Panorama

DAY 1

Travelling by Eurostar from London St Pancras to Paris, then onwards to Interlaken and our hotel for two nights, the Hotel Metropole, where we check in and enjoy our first evening meal together.

DAY 2

After breakfast this morning, we travel by rail from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen, a picturesque village in the Swiss Alps where we take a cable car to the summit of Schilthorn - the 'James Bond' mountain. We have free time to visit the revolving Piz Gloria Restaurant, Bond World, 007 Walk of Fame, and the Piz Gloria View embedded in a beautiful mountain environment with views of more than 200 Alpine peaks. Afterwards, we return to Interlaken and our hotel to enjoy our evening meal together.

DAY 3

This morning, our luggage will be transferred to Montreux as we journey to Jungfraujoch offering amazing views over the Eiger and Mönch and we enjoy free time to explore the fascinating Ice Palace and take lunch before retracing our steps to Interlaken. This afternoon, we return to Interlaken to board the panoramic GoldenPass Express to Montreux, a luxurious train that will take us through spectacular mountain views. On arrival in Montreux, we transfer to our hotel for the next two nights, the Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic, where we check in and enjoy our evening meal together.

DAY 4

After breakfast, we journey by rail to Veytaux-Chillon for a self-guided tour of the medieval Chillon Castle, perched dramatically at the water's edge against a stunning mountain backdrop. After visiting the castle, we will embark on a relaxing cruise across Lake Geneva before travelling on the fantastic Rochers-de-Naye Cogwheel Railway taking us to an altitude of 2,000m for unique views over Lake Geneva before we retrace our steps to Montreux for an evening at leisure.

DAY 5

Today, our luggage will be transferred separately as we travel by rail to Zermatt, a charming town at the foot of the Matterhorn. On arrival, we board the historic Gornergrat Railway, a cogwheel train that takes us 3,100m for picturesque landscapes and a breathtaking view of the Matterhorn. Afterwards, we continue to the BEAUSiTE Hotel for our overnight stay where we check in and enjoy an evening at leisure.

DAY 6

This morning, our luggage will be transferred separately as we board the famous Glacier Express, a truly scenic railway journey that we will enjoy in style with a 3-course lunch served to our seats. Marvel at the breathtaking and varied panoramic views outside your window as we traverse through tunnels and over bridges including the magnificent Landwasser Viaduct before arriving in St. Moritz. Here, we transfer to the Hotel Laudinella for our overnight stay where we check in and enjoy an evening at leisure.

DAY 7

After breakfast today, our luggage will be transferred separately as a remarkable travel experience awaits us - the Bernina Express! Crossing marvellous viaducts, passing romantic gorges, and admiring the masterpieces of engineering, we travel towards the sunny south of the Alps before crossing the border into the Italian town of Tirano. We enjoy some free time and the chance to enjoy a classic Italian espresso before continuing by private coach through picturesque countryside to Lugano and the Hotel de la Paix for our overnight stay where we check in and enjoy our evening meal together.

DAY 8

Today, our luggage will be transferred separately as we experience our next panoramic journey aboard the Gotthard Panorama Express from Lugano to Flüelen past towering mountain peaks, picturesque valleys, and sparkling lakes. Afterwards, we enjoy a relaxing cruise to Lucerne with beautiful views of the lake and picturesque villages along the way. On arrival in Lucerne, we transfer to our hotel for the next two nights, the Radisson Blu Hotel, where we check in and enjoy an evening at leisure.

DAY 9

Today, we will experience the historic Rigi Railway, Europe's first mountain railway transporting visitors from all over the world to the top of the 'Queen of the Mountains' since 1871. The Rigi's unique location and panoramic views made it a famous destination for writers and heads of state during the 'Belle Époque' era, and even Queen Victoria journeyed to the peak. We will return to Lucerne with a leisurely boat journey and, this evening, we will enjoy our final evening meal together in a traditional Swiss restaurant in the heart of Lucerne.

DAY 10

We bid farewell to Lucerne and to Switzerland, returning by rail to Paris, where we will join the Eurostar service to London St Pancras.
