DAY 1
Travelling by Eurostar from London St Pancras to Brussels, then onwards to Würzburg for our overnight stay at the Maritim Hotel where we check in and enjoy our first evening meal together.
DDAY 2
After breakfast this morning, we take the train to Munich where our guide meets us for our fascinating walking tour of the Old Town including the culinary highlights. We will discover the most important sights of this beautiful Bavarian city learning of its history from our guide before returning to the Courtyard Hotel, our base for the next four nights.
B, LRDAY 3
Today, we journey by train to the historic city of Augsburg where we visit The Fuggerei, a city within a city, and the oldest existing social housing estate in the world, founded by Jakob Fugger in 1521. We enjoy lunch at a local restaurant in Augsburg before boarding the Ammersee Railway for a nostalgic steam train ride through picturesque landscapes to Lake Ammersee and return.
B, LDAY 4
After breakfast, we travel by coach to explore the remarkable Linderhof Palace & Park, the only fairytale palace of King Ludwig II that he lived to see completed. We enjoy our lunch in the nearby town of Oberammergau before our guided tour of the famous Oberammergau Theatre to learn the history of the Passion Play dating back to 1634 and performed once every ten years.
B, LDAY 5
Today, we travel by train across the border to Salzburg in Austria and we begin our visit with a guided walking tour of the city to learn of the rich history as we stroll through this beautiful city. Afterwards, we enjoy free time to explore further perhaps visiting the birthplace of Mozart or the film locations of 'The Sound of Music' before we return by train to Munich.
BDAY 6
This morning, we begin our journey back to Würzburg where we take part in a fabulous wine-tasting event before our final evening meal together.
B, DDAY 7
We bid farewell to Würzburg and to Germany, returning by rail to Brussels, where we will join the Eurostar service to London St Pancras.
